Manchester Events: Gigs and Concerts
Manchester is known for its eclectic and vibrant music scene. With countless numbers of venues across the city and surrounding area, music fans are bound to find something they’re looking for. Pop heavyweights the Spice Girls make their triumphant return in May to the Etihad stadium, while across the city at the Manchester Arena you can expect to see electric sets from Cher, Busted and KISS across the year.
Don’t forget to check out some of Manchester’s smaller venues, such as the O2 Ritz or Manchester Academy, where you can expect to catch The Manic Street Preachers, UB40 and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds in 2019.

Sporting Events in Manchester, 2019
Home to two of the biggest football teams in the world, and a valued asset during the 2012 Olympic Games, it’s no surprise that there are several sporting occasions in the Manchester events calendar for 2019.
Manchester United and Manchester City have regular fixtures across the year with tickets still available. If you’re visiting the city and want to catch a game, get there early to soak in the electric atmosphere of the fans and supporters from all over the world!
In 2019, Manchester will also play host to the HSBC UK National Cycling Track Championships and the World Taekwondo Championships. Tickets for these events are going fast and are sure to be excellent shows of international level sport.
As the summer roles in, a trip to Old Trafford Cricket Ground is a must for all the action. With great access via the Manchester Metrolink service, cricket fans can settle in for a day of fun in the sun (so long as the infamous Manchester rain doesn’t appear).

Manchester Events: Festivals 2019
Festivals aren’t just muddy fields in the middle of nowhere anymore! Manchester makes the most of its green spaces to offer visitors and residents some world-class festivals to suit all interests.
After a fallow year in 2018, the Manchester International Festival (MIF) is back on the Manchester events calendar in 2019. With events going on across the city and a festival hub located outside the Town Hall, the festival transforms the city into a cultural event like no other. Pro-tip: If you’re a fan of great food and drink, we’d definitely recommend checking out all the food stalls for some excellent street food from around the world!
For the 7th year in its new home, Parklife festival returns to Heaton Park. Acts have yet to be confirmed for the event however this doesn’t stop tickets going fast. After picking up a series of awards and hosting some great acts, Parklife Festival has become a staple for many Mancunian Summer holidays!
If Parklife isn’t quite your thing don’t despair just yet. The Sounds of the City is back at Castlefield Bowl with performances from The Wombats, Elbow and Kylie Minogue.
